Objections To Evolution - Epub + Converted PDF
نویسندگان: Dr. Nirushan Sivanesan خلاصه: Preface Evolutionary theory is the dominant scientific explanation for how all species came into existence. We are told there is such overwhelming evidence for the theory that it has become irrefutable. It is taught as fact in most science classrooms in the Western world, and the consensus in the scientific community is that the theory is true beyond doubt. In Western civilisation, if you do not subscribe to it, you are considered unintelligent or uneducated. However, there has been significant controversy and debate over the theory since it was first brought into the public domain about 160 years ago. This book attempts to explore this controversy and bring forth a case against evolutionary theory using various perspectives. It should be noted that this case does not attempt to disprove evolutionary theory, as this would appear to be a futile task, analogous to trying to disprove the existence of God. It only aims to demonstrate the flaws of the theory and address the pertinent question of whether the theory has been proven to a reasonable degree, such that it should be considered fact. This book is purely a collection of ideas and arguments designed to promote critical thinking and offer an alternative perspective. It critiques evolutionary theory primarily from a philosophical point of view. No new research, data or observations are provided. The focus is on criticising the reasoning that is being used and the conclusions that are being drawn from the information that evolutionists themselves use to formulate their theory. The majority of contemporary anti-evolution books are written from a religious point of view. Please note that this book is dissimilar in this regard: it attempts to discredit evolutionary theory without promoting religion or God. It is not advocating an alternative doctrine, nor advocating an active denial of the theory

نویسندگان: Andy campbell خلاصه: It was late in March 2016, in the heat of Trump’s presidential push, and the national media had latched onto one bit of security footage from a Trump event. The video showed Trump’s campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, grabbing and pushing Breitbart writer Michelle Fields as she approached Trump and tapped his elbow. Fields claimed that Lewandowski left bruises on her arm. It was enough that police charged Lewandowski with simple battery, but prosecutors ultimately dropped the case. He shrugged off the allegation and the news cycle that followed, which left the pundits to bicker among themselves over the footage and decide whether an assault had occurred. McInnes, staring slack-jawed at the footage during an episode of his reactionary talk show, couldn’t believe it warranted media attention in the first place. A woman touched a presidential candidate and got what was coming to her, he argued. If anything, she deserved more. “She wasn’t randomly grabbed!” he groused, his voice pitching upward in aggravation as the video played. “I think there’s not enough violence in today’s day and age.” McInnes then launched into one of his signature rants, steering the conversation toward his keynote: America had gone soft in the waning years of Barack Obama’s presidency, and there was no better evidence than the news media clutching its pearls over a woman being grabbed and pushed out of the way. Real Americans—real men—wouldn’t give this story the time of day. Real men are hardened by a lifetime of violence

نویسندگان: Jesse Schell خلاصه: I was shorter then. since that picture was taken, I’ve done a lot of different things. I’ve worked in circuses as a professional juggler. I’ve been a writer, comedian, and magician’s apprentice. I’ve worked at IbM and bell Communications Research as a software engineer. I’ve designed and developed interactive theme park rides and massively multiplayer games for the Walt Disney Company. I’ve started my own game studio, and become a professor at Carnegie Mellon University. but when peo- ple ask me what I do, I tell them that I am a game designer. I mention all this only because at various times in this book, I will be drawing examples from these experiences, since every single one of them has taught me valuable lessons about the art of game design. that might sound surprising now, but hopefully, as you read this book, it will help you see the ways that game design meaningfully connects to the many experiences in your own life

Kubernetes Programming with Go Programming Kubernetes Clients and Operators Using Go and the Kubernetes API - Original PDF
نویسندگان: Philippe Martin خلاصه: Back in 2017, I was working for a company building video streaming software. At the end of that year, a small team, including me, got assigned a new job to work on deploying the Video CDN developed by the company on Kubernetes. We decided to explore the concept of Custom Resources and Operators to deploy this CDN. The current Kubernetes release was 1.9, the concept of Custom Resource Definition had just been released in 1.7, and the sample-controller repository was the only documentation we knew of to help build an Operator. The Kubernetes ecosystem, being especially lively, had tools appearing in the following months, specifically the Kubebuilder SDK. Thus, our project was launched. From that moment on, I spent numerous days exploring how to build Operators and other programs interacting with the Kubernetes API. But the damage was done: I had started to learn Kubernetes programming from specific to general, and it took me a long time to fully understand the innards of the Kubernetes API. I have written this book in the hope that it can teach new Kubernetes developers how to program, from general to specific, with the Kubernetes API in Go

NONVIOLENCE AND EDUCATION Cross-Cultural Pathways - Original PDF
نویسندگان: Hongyu Wang خلاصه: This book is based on a life history, qualitative study of four university professors’ cross-cultural pathways. When I started this research during my sabbatical leave in China in September, 2009, I had no idea what it would lead me to. To my aston- ishment, it turned out to be one of the most spiritual experiences in my life. As a result, I became fully committed to nonviolence education, inspired by the life stories of the four professors in their cross-cultural engagements situated in history, culture, and educational contexts. Two Chinese professors, one male and one female, and two American pro- fessors, one male and one female, from different generations participated in this study. This book tells these professors’ extraordinary stories of encountering a culture different from their own and how such engagements influenced their edu- cational work. Specifically, the Chinese professors’ engagement with American/ Western thought and culture and the American professors’ engagement with Chi- nese thought and culture are narrated. Their stories are also situated in the context of the intellectual and cultural history of China–US engagement, with my auto- biographical voice woven in when applicable. While Chinese immigrants’ stories are more often heard in the North American educational field, Americans’ lived experiences in China must also be heard to achieve the mutuality that is necessary for forming constructive relationships between the self and the other globally (Aoki, 2005). It is at the site of mutuality that non-dualistic engagement with dif- ference becomes possible in cross-cultural and intercultural education. Nonviolence has emerged as a central thread of cross-cultural pathways and pedagogy. Here nonviolence is defined as unity between the body and the mind within the self and compassionate relationships between the self and the other that can be extended to the group, the nation, and the global (and further to the ecological relationship between humanity and nonhuman being

نویسندگان: Gabriele A. Krombach Andreas H. Mahnken خلاصه: Ultraschall, CT (Computertomografie) und MRT (Magnetreso- nanztomografie) sind die wichtigsten Modalitäten zur Unter- suchung der Kopf-Hals-Region. The Life of Alfred Russel Wallace - Original PDF
نویسندگان: ross a. slotten خلاصه: he anthrop olo g ist Loren Eiseley, popularizer of the history of evolutionary thought, famously referred to the nineteenth century as “Dar- win’s Century.” Although his book of that name is concerned with a good deal more than Darwin, the phrase has contributed to the myth of a lone sci- entist ultimately triumphing over universal opposition. Darwin was not alone, however. Another man also discovered the theory of natural selection, and he championed the theory as vigorously as did Darwin. His name was Alfred Russel Wallace. Although he was the century’s greatest explorer- naturalist, few besides scholars know very much about him. For a time, Wal- lace shared the limelight with Darwin. It was Wallace who forced Darwin to publish The Origin of Species; indeed, were it not for Darwin, the nineteenth century probably would be known as “Wallace’s Century.” Darwin, cautious to a fault, had been laboring for some twenty years on his theory, amassing what he hoped would be enough data to change the minds of the majority of his fellow scientists. At the time, most people be- lieved that species had been separately (and divinely) created. Only two men knew the true nature and import of Darwin’s work: his friends the botanist Joseph Hooker and the geologist Sir Charles Lyell. Darwin had begun to or- ganize his material into a multivolume book to be entitled “Natural Selec- tion.” But an extraordinary thing happened. Sometime in June 1858, Darwin received a packet postmarked from the island of Ternate in the Dutch East Indies. The packet contained an essay by Alfred Russel Wallace, a thirty-five- year-old English naturalist with whom Darwin had struck up a correspon- dence three years earlier. The essay, “On the Tendency of Varieties to Depart Indefinitely from the Original Type,” shocked Darwin. Wallace wrote: We believe that there is a tendency in nature to the continue

نویسندگان: Harald J. Bolsinger • Johannes Hoffmann • Bernd Villhauer خلاصه: Abstract In this text, all contributions are summarized and the focus of the volume is explained. It highlights the importance of a new cultural setting for ECB sustain- ability strategies. From a system in which the financial sector incorporates sustain- ability according to its own logic, as does the real sector, the political sector, the regulatory sector, and the civil society, we need to start working on a system of mutually consistent logics to move from “(ECB) Climate Finance” to a “Climate Finance Society” and from “Sustainable Finance” to a “Sustainable Finance Soci- ety.” On this basis, one could then start working on the even more ambitious project of putting culture center stage.

Neoliberal Urban Governance - Original PDF
نویسندگان: Carolina Sternberg خلاصه: Preface As a social scientist, I am interested in understanding how space, govern- ment, and state structure and policy affect urban marginality. My perspec- tive has been shaped by growing up in Buenos Aires and receiving my bachelor’s degree in geography and my master’s degree in public policy. In 2006, I arrived at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign to pursue a Ph.D. in urban geography, hoping to expand the focus and geographical context of my research. Aware of my roots and training in the Global South, my academic advisor, David Wilson, encouraged me to embark on a comparative study of neoliberal governance in Buenos Aires and Chicago. The project drew me not just because it allowed me to make sense of these two different parts of the world, but because it offered a way to bridge gaps between the academic traditions in urban studies between the Global North and the Global South. This book is part of that journey, one that began after I was transplanted in the Midwest, one that flourished while I was in graduate school, and one that to this day has me dissecting differences and similarities between neoliberal urban governance in Buenos Aires and Chicago.

Financial Innovations and Monetary Reform - Original PDF
نویسندگان: Jean-François Serval · Jean-Pascal Tranié خلاصه: Many economics textbooks have explained the slow transformation from a sub- sistence economy to a barter economy, thus limited by the comparability of the objects or services exchanged. Although an improvement over the subsistence economy, the barter economy remains cumbersome and inefficient, as it requires the simultaneous acceptance of a transaction by both parties with physical delivery. The barter economy eventually gave way to a financial economy that was made possible by the issuance of money, a potentially universal intermediate means of payment, conducive to labor specialization and economic development.1 The Greek civilization and the emerging monetary system that resulted from it led international trade for centuries (from the fifth to the first century BC). Dur- ing this period of antiquity, the countries surrounding the Mediterranean became a world of commercial and industrial competition with the Greeks, the Phoenicians in the west and the Medes on the southeastern border as the players
