The meaning of your life is you. There is nothing else. Your life, and you living it, and the joy, and sadness, and whatever it means to you, that is the meaning of your life, that is the meaning of life for you. Jesus Christ is not the meaning of your life. Helping the poor, and Karl Marx, is not the meaning of your life. No. You, and only you, are the meaning of your own life. But that means that you have to work, and work hard, to create a meaningful life, to create meaning and intention and purpose and achievement for your life, to make your life meaningful. You have to do it, but it is something only you can do. Now, you could choose to have Jesus Christ be the meaning of your life, and many people have done that, but then that is about you, it isn't really about Jesus Christ. It's about what Jesus Christ means to you; it is not about Jesus Christ himself. And, likewise, you could choose for the meaning of your life to be helping others, but then it isn't really about helping others, it's really about you and the meaning that you create for yourself by choosing that as your purpose in life, as the focus of your life. People think that "What is the meaning of life?" is an impossible question to answer, but if you change it into "What is the meaning of my life?" then it becomes possible for you to answer it. But if you fail, if you do not create meaning and find meaningful people, events, emotions, goals, etc., in your life, then you fall into the void, the abyss, nihilism, then your life would have no meaning

When Trevor Swan moved to the chair at the ANU he continued to dwell over the problems of internal and external balance which had been concerning him as an advisor to Prime Minister Menzies and even earlier when he was developing his econometric model of the Australian economy. In particular he was concerned that the very rapid immigra- tion programme, and the investment required to equip the newly arriving migrants would lead to excess demand in the economy and so create difficulties for policymakers in their attempts to achieve full employment, low inflation and a satisfactory outcome on the balance of payments (see Swan, 1949, 1950a, 1950c, 1950d). As early as November 1952, Swan wrote a paper, Simple Algebra (1952) which is included in this volume, for a meeting of economists at the Commonwealth (Central) Bank in Sydney addressing the issue of simultaneously achieving three objectives:

نویسندگان: خلاصه: The changes we have all seen in technology and corre spondingly with assistive technology in the past 10 years are mind‐boggling. Futurist and inventor Ray Kurzweil (2000) stated early in the twenty‐first century that com puters are 100 million times more powerful than they were 50 years ago. The exponential growth of computer capacity that Kurzweil and others predicted in the late 1990s continues to advance and has the potential for improving all aspects of life (Diamandis and Kotler 2014). These exponential changes in technology make it hard to keep up with the latest innovations. For example, one of the chapter authors worked in an assistive technology laboratory in which serial port add‐ons to computers evolved into Universal Serial Bus (USB) ports rendering the former connections and their attachments obsolete within in less than five years. Currently, com puters no longer come with disk drives and all of the software one needs to load on the computer comes from the cloud. Vicente (2006) stated, “... more and more technology is being foisted upon us at a faster and faster pace” (p. 13). In addition, technology is clearly a necessary part of our lives. For many of us, it is difficult to remember a time when cell phones, laptops, or navigation devices were not available to those who could afford it.
