The reviews of different methodologies is comprehensive enough but not overly wordy-effective usage of language is used in the book. Counseling Problem Gamblers: A Self-Regulation Manual for Individual and Family Therapy - Original PDF
Counseling Problem Gamblers: A Self-Regulation Manual for Individual and Family Therapy - Original PDF
نویسندگان: Joseph W. Ciarrocchi خلاصه: Over the past decade, legal wagering has expanded rapidly in North America. In 1998 alone, people lost 50 billion dollars in legal betting and it is estimated that illegal wagering is twice that amount. A recent government report, based on the broadest population survey, concludes that the lifetime and pathological gamblers in the U.S. range between 4 and 10 million persons and is growing. If we include the families affected by problem gambling then the potential impact is indeed prodigious. Virtually no community in the U.S. and Canada is left untouched by entertainment or problem gambling. Treating problem gambling has evolved from a small group of practitioners in the 1980's working in specialty impatient units into an international enterprise that affects the caseload of many mental health professionals. Owing to its quiet origins, problem gambling treatment strategies are not well known throughout the clinical community. Consequently the average clinician is him/herself "learning as they go." This approach does not benefit either client or therapist. As the book's first chapter makes clear, problem gambling differs significantly from substance abuse, its nearest clinical relative. Not attending to these differences leads to poor results and clinical failure. This book is the one essential tool needed by clinicians treating or likely to treat problem gambling. Written by a clinician with wide experience, it is intended for the general clinician treating or likely to treat problem gambling desiring a comprehensive, yet user-friendly guide. Key Features * Assessment and treatment of problem gambling and those affected by it is discussed * Includes diagnostic instruments developed by the author * An integrative approach is taken with a special focus on cultural concerns and clinical applications for women and minorities * Integration of spirituality in treatment is covered

FAMILY THERAPY Concepts, Process and Practice - Original PDF
نویسندگان: Norman Sartorius, Julian Leff, Juan José López-Ibor, Mario Maj, Ahmed Okasha خلاصه: According to the World Health Organization’s World Health Report 2001, one family in four worldwide has at least one member currently suffering from a mental disorder. This disorder often remains undiagnosed and untreated, but the behaviour of the ill person usually has a significant impact on the quality of life of the family and on the mental health of the other members of the family, and generates feelings of shame, guilt, helplessness and despair. This book provides a comprehensive picture of currently available evidence about the specific characteristics of the burden on the families of people with the various mental disorders, the coping strategies which increase or decrease this burden, the family interventions of proven efficacy, and what should be said and what should not be said to the relatives of people with the various conditions.
Concise Guide to Marriage and Family Therapy - Original PDF
Concise Guide to Marriage and Family Therapy - Original PDF
نویسندگان: Eva C. Ritvo, Ira D. Glick خلاصه: DEFINITION OF MARRIAGE AND FAMILY THERAPY Family therapy is distinguished from other psychotherapies by its conceptual focus on the family system as a whole. In this view, ma- jor emphasis is placed on understanding how the system as a whole remains functional and on understanding individual behavior pat- terns as arising from, and inevitably feeding back into, the complex interactions within the family system. In other words, a person’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are seen as multidetermined and partly a product of significant interpersonal relationships. From the family systems perspective, alterations in the larger marital and family unit may therefore have positive consequences for the indi- vidual members as well as for the larger system. A major emphasis is generally placed on understanding and intervening in the family system’s current patterns of interaction, with usually only a second- ary interest in the origins and development of these interactions (de- pending on the model)
