Computational Flow Modeling for Chemical Reactor Engineering - Original PDF
Computational Flow Modeling for Chemical Reactor Engineering - Original PDF
نویسندگان: Vivek V. Ranade (Eds.) خلاصه: This book describes how modeling fluid flow in chemical reactors may offer solutions that improve design, operation, and performance of reactors. Chemical reactors are any vessels, tubes, pipes, or tanks in which chemical reactions take place. Computational Flow Modeling for Chemical Reactor Engineering will show the reactor engineer how to define the specific roles of computational flow modeling, select appropriate tools, and apply these tools to link reactor hardware to reactor performance. Overall methodology is illustrated with numerous case studies.Industry has invested substantial funds in computational flow modeling which will pay off only if it can be used to realize significant performance enhancement in chemical reactors. No other single source exists which provides the information contained in this book
Fundamentals of Phase Separation in Polymer Blend Thin Films - Original PDF
Fundamentals of Phase Separation in Polymer Blend Thin Films - Original PDF
نویسندگان: Sam Coveney خلاصه: This work sheds new light on fundamental aspects of phase separation in polymer-blend thin films. A key feature underlying the theoretical models is the unification of one-dimensional thermodynamic phase equilibria with film evolution phenomena in two- and three dimensions. Initially, an established 'phase portrait' method, useful for visualising and calculating phase equilibria of polymer-blend films, is generalised to systems without convenient simplifying symmetries. Thermodynamic equilibria alone are then used to explain a film roughening mechanism in which laterally coexisting phases can have different depths in order to minimise free energy. The phase portraits are then utilised to demonstrate that simulations of lateral phase separation via a transient wetting layer, which conform very well with experiments, can be satisfactorily explained by 1D phase equilibria and a 'surface bifurcation' mechanism. Lastly, a novel 3D model of coupled phase separation and dewetting is developed, which demonstrates that surface roughening shadows phase separation in thin films.

Elastomer Blends and Composites: Principles, Characterization, Advances, and Applications - Original PDF
نویسندگان: Rangappa S.M., Parameswaranpillai J., Siengchin S., Ozbakkaloglu T. (ed.) خلاصه: Elastomer Blends and Composites: Principles, Characterization, Advances, and Applications presents the latest developments in natural rubber and synthetic rubber-based blends and nanocomposites, with a focus on current trends, future directions and state-of-the-art applications. The book introduces the fundamentals of natural rubber and synthetic rubbers, outlining synthesis, structure, properties, challenges and potential applications. This is followed by detailed coverage of compounding and formulations, manufacturing methods, and preparation of elastomer-based blends, composites, and nanocomposites. The next section of the book focuses on properties and characterization, examining elasticity, spectroscopy, barrier properties, and rheological, morphological, mechanical, thermal, and viscoelastic behavior, and more. This is a highly valuable resource for researchers and advanced students in rubber (or elastomer) science, polymer blends, composites, polymer science, and materials science and engineering, as well as engineers, technologists, and scientists working with rubber-based materials for advanced applications.

Elastomer Stereospecific Polymerization (Advances in Chemistry Series, Volume 052) - PDF
نویسندگان: B. L. Johnson and Murray Goodman خلاصه: Addition polymerization, initiated by organometallic compounds, has in recent years aroused widespread interest mainly because of the stereospeciflc character of many of these systems. It soon became apparent that the chain propagation reaction in these systems differed markedly from that of the wellknown free radical polymerizations in that it involved an orientation of the incoming monomer instead of a more random reaction. However, elucidating the detailed mechanism of this important step has been difficult owing to lack of knowledge about the exact structure of the organometallic compound as well as the heterogeneous nature of most such systems. The available knowledge of stereoregular polymerization (1), anionic propagation kinetics (13), and organolithium polymerization (2) has recently been reviewed. Based on presently available knowledge, therefore, it is now possible to sketch some general guide lines toward a better understanding of these phenomena.

Thermoforming: A Plastics Processing Guide (2nd Edition) - Original PDF
نویسندگان: Geza Gruenwald خلاصه: Dr. Gruenwald has indicated the desirable properties of polymerics for differing applications; thus, his text is especially useful for polymer chemists who must "tailor" plastic materials for specific groups of applications. Engineers in extruding and calendering film and sheet will benefit from the intimate relationships elucidated between processing parameters imposed upon stocks employed in thermoforming and the products thereof. Mold designers are provided with a complete guide that will enable them to avoid the less obvious pitfalls and wasted effort so often experienced in the evolution of molds for (especially) complex parts.. Quite likely, Dr. Gruenwald's suggestions willl lead to considerable benefits to those who read and practice by this remarkable exposition of thermoforming technology. Robert K. Severe Plastic Deformation: Methods, Processing and Properties - PDF
نویسندگان: Ghader Faraji, Hyoung Seop Kim, Hessam Torabzadeh Kashi خلاصه: All materials are composed of atoms. Depending on the order in which the atoms are arranged with one another, solid material can be classified into crystalline and noncrystalline or amorphous materials. In crystalline materials, the atoms are arranged in a repetitive or periodic array over large atomic distances, while in amorphous materials this long-range atomic order is absent. The crystalline metals with different crystal structures, such as face-centered cubic, hexagonal closed pack, or bodycentered cubic, are divided into two categories: single crystal and polycrystalline.

Molding Simulation: Theory and Practice - Original PDF
نویسندگان: Maw-Ling Wang, Rong-Yeu Chang, Chia-Hsiang (David) Hsu خلاصه: This practical introductory guide to injection molding simulation is aimed at both students and practicing engineers. It offers ways to innovate and improve part design and molding processes, which are essential for efficient manufacturing. This user-friendly book uses a case-study-based approach that is enhanced by many illustrations in full color. The book is divided into three parts. Part I introduces the fundamentals of injection molding, focusing on the factors governing molding quality and how molding simulation methodology is developed. Part II introduces CAE verification of design, a valuable tool for both part and mold designers. Part III introduces research and development in innovative molding, illustrating how CAE is applied to advanced molding techniques.
