And will digital technology erode conventional urban agglomeration advan- tages? The socioeconomic impacts of the pandemic will definitely leave their mark on cities. For example, the digital divide has already become more apparent regarding equitable access to education or to virtual libraries. Furthermore, climate change will have a stronger influence on cities than in the past, given that avoiding close indoor activities or reducing dense concentrations of people may become commonplace. For example, operating restaurants with outside dining areas or organizing open-air activities which allow safe social distancing will face new challenges in cities, in particular in places where weather conditions may become less favorable

نویسندگان: خلاصه: The realisation that emerging economies were becoming systematically important dawned on the major advanced economies with the Asian and Russian financial crises of the late 1990s, and hence, the necessity was felt for a larger forum than the G7 encompassing the emerging economies. The Group of Twenty Countries (G20) was launched as a forum of the finance ministers and Central Bank governors primarily to address the challenges to international financial stability that had begun in Asia in 1997. The need was felt for a “permanent forum” for informal dialogue between developing and developed countries in the G20. The need for the inclusion of major emerging economies in discussions on the international financial system was underlined by the global financial crisis of 2008. A platform was created where leaders of systemically important countries resolved to coordinate macroeconomic policies to counteract the global financial crisis. In turn, they analysed the deeper, underlying causes of the financial crisis. This chapter introduces and motivates the book and discusses the rationale behind the formation of the G20. It discusses the background of the G20, the role of G7 and G8, and discusses the organisation of the book in the chapters that follow

This paper offers a prototype of a Hyperledger Fabric-IPFS based network architecture including a smart contract based encryp- tion scheme that meant to improve the security of user’s data that is being uploaded to the distributed ledger. A new extension to the self- encryption scheme was deployed by integrating data owner’s identity into the encryption process. Such integration allows to permanently pre- serve ownership of the original file and link it to the person/entity who originally uploaded it. Moreover, self-encryption provides strong security guarantees that decryption of a file is computationally not feasible under the condition that the encrypted file and the key are safely stored. The first major market adoption of blockchain happened in 2009 when Bitcoin was introduced [12]. Interest in blockchain solutions grew over the years and lead to the invention of Ethereum - Bitcoin peer but with support for smart contracts which are digital codes enabling the description of complete business logic [1]. The introduction of smart contracts leads to further development in the field of blockchain and cre- ated demand for more industry-friendly solutions that allow to identify users of the system (Know-Your-Customer, Anti-Money-Laundering). نویسندگان: خلاصه: Particle arrangements and confinements can be classified in the four groups (1) single particle situation, (2) one-particle layer, (3) particle bed confined closely or widely, and (4) ideal particle bed. Any confinement influences the stress distribution inside the bed due to the wall friction, and a complex stress field arises. The size-reduction effect is represented with the fraction of broken particles, the breakage function and the specific surface increases. The breakage functions of the particle bed comminution display as truncated logarithmic normal distributions. The stressing intensity can be quantified by the pressure, the stress field characteristics or the energy absorption. Although the stress field situation can differ extremely, the overall energy absorption has been proven to represent the stressing intensity very well in respect to the size-reduction. The transition from a close to a moderately wide confinement does not affect the size-reduction strongly. Steel balls inserted in a particle bed improve the breakage of coarse particles at a low intensity level. This advantage fades with increasing intensity and decreasing particle size.

Nature rather than nurture was formative, in his view. Though he knew nothing of the science of genetics, and never used the word gene, which is first recorded in English in 1911, more than a quarter- century after his death, he is a classic case of genetic inheritance. Indeed, two of his grandparents and his father can reasonably be classified as geniuses. His paternal grandfather, Erasmus Darwin (1731–1802) came from an old family of modest landowners. After Cambridge, he trained as a doctor in Edinburgh, and then practiced in Litchfield, Dr. Johnson’s town (they did not get on). He was successful and had many patients, easily earning £1,000 a year, a handsome income then. News of his skill reached the ears of George III, who invited him to come to London as the royal doctor. But Dr. Darwin declined. The Hanoverian royals were slow at paying their doctors. In any case, Darwin was happy as he was, combining a busy provincial practice with poetry and science. The symbol of this dualism was his coach, which he designed himself. It was fitted up with a writing desk, a skylight, and a portion of his library, so that he could carry on his intellectual pursuits while going on his daily round of professional calls.

نویسندگان: خلاصه: In numerical simulations of dense two-phase flow involving particulate materials the Discrete Element Method (DEM) has proved particularly effective in capturing the complex hydrodynamics of the solid phase. 1 DEM-based granular solid dynamics, including collisions and persistent contact with elaborate force-displacement laws, friction and cohesion have shown to be superior to traditional fluid-like, continuum approaches, which typically require coarse approximations and the introduction of artificial variables like solids pressure and viscosity. However, computational limitations of DEM models do not allow adding also the burden of flow simulations resolved at the level of particle-particle interstices, so that typically an averaged scale approach, with computational cell sizes of the order of a few particle diameters, is used. 2 .3 As a consequence, formulations of the drag force acting on individual particles are required to close the set of equations to solve for the solid and fluid phases. While many drag force models for monodisperse systems have been proposed in the literature, as discussed below, expressions for such force on a particle in a multi-particle system is currently the subject of extensive research work
