Global Algorithmic Capital Markets: High Frequency Trading, Dark Pools, and Regulatory Challenges - Original PDF
نویسندگان: Walter Mattli خلاصه: Global capital markets have undergone fundamental transformations in recent years and, as a result, have become extraordinarily complex and opaque. Trading space is no longer measured in minutes or seconds but in time units beyond human perception: milliseconds, microseconds, and even nanoseconds. Technological advances have thus scaled up imperceptible and previously irrelevant time differences into operationally manageable and enormously profitable business opportunities for those with the proper high-tech trading tools. These tools include the fastest private communication and trading lines, the most powerful computers and sophisticated algorithms capable of speedily analysing incoming news and trading data and determining optimal trading strategies in microseconds, as well as the possession of gigantic collections of historic and real-time market data. Fragmented capital markets are also becoming a rapidly growing reality in Europe and Asia, and are an established feature of U.S. trading. This raises urgent market governance issues that have largely been overlooked. Global Algorithmic Capital Markets seeks to understand how recent market transformations are affecting core public policy objectives such as investor protection and reduction of systemic risk, as well as fairness, efficiency, and transparency. The operation and health of capital markets affect all of us and have profound implications for equality and justice in society. This unique set of chapters by leading scholars, industry insiders, and regulators discusses ways to strengthen market governance for the benefit of society at whole.

Hands-On Machine Learning for Algorithmic Trading - Original PDF
نویسندگان: Stefan Jansen خلاصه: Historically, algorithmic trading used to be more narrowly defined as the automation of trade execution to minimize costs as offered by the sell side, but we will take a more comprehensive perspective since the use of algorithms, and ML, in particular, has come to impact a broader range of activities from idea generation and alpha factor design to asset allocation, position sizing, and the testing and evaluation of strategies. This chapter looks at the bigger picture of how the use of ML has emerged as a critical source of competitive advantage in the investment industry and where it fits into the investment process to enable algorithmic trading strategies. We will be covering the following topics in the chapter: How this book is organized and who should read it How ML has come to play a strategic role in algorithmic trading How to design and execute a trading strategy How ML adds value to an algorithmic trading strategy

Planet Forex: Currency Trading in the Digital Age - Original PDF
نویسندگان: Abe Cofnas خلاصه: This valuable book provides a much-needed integration of fundamental analysis of global forces and technical analysis to provide highly probable trades in currency markets. Fundamental analysis is often too vague and not quantified. This book provides insights into fundamental analysis and then calibrates it to trading strategies and techniques. Fundamentals are clearly defined as longer-term economic expectations regarding growth, inflation, and labor conditions. Nearer-term understanding of fundamentals deals with market psychology, where markets are manifest risk-on and risk-off emotions. Currencies are explained as expectations battles generating expectation waves. With real trading examples included to underscore the concepts,Planet Forexgives readers an invaluable primer on trading market sentiment that is unprecedented. This book is a must-read for global forex traders, portfolio managers, and other employees in the forex industry, including exchanges, brokerage firms, and financial planners and advisors.

The Bookshop of the World: Making and Trading Books in the Dutch Golden Age - Original PDF
نویسندگان: Andrew Pettegree; Arthur der Weduwen خلاصه: The untold story of how the Dutch conquered the European book market and became the world's greatest bibliophiles—“an instant classic on Dutch book history” (BMGN - Low Countries Historical Review) "[An] excellent contribution to book history."—Robert Darnton, New York Review of Books The Dutch Golden Age has long been seen as the age of Rembrandt and Vermeer, whose paintings captured the public imagination and came to represent the marvel that was the Dutch Republic. Yet there is another, largely overlooked marvel in the Dutch world of the seventeenth century: books. In this fascinating account, Andrew Pettegree and Arthur der Weduwen show how the Dutch produced many more books than pictures and bought and owned more books per capita than any other part of Europe. Key innovations in marketing, book auctions, and newspaper advertising brought stability to a market where elsewhere publishers faced bankruptcy, and created a population uniquely well-informed and politically engaged. This book tells for the first time the remarkable story of the Dutch conquest of the European book world and shows the true extent to which these pious, prosperous, quarrelsome, and generous people were shaped by what they read.

Markets in Early Medieval Europe: Trading and 'Productive' Sites, 650 - 850 - Original PDF
نویسندگان: Katharina Ulmschneider; Tim Pestell خلاصه: Major sites such as Hamwic and Dorestad typically dominate any discussion of early medieval trade and emporia - this study is altogether atypical in many ways. Comprising nineteen papers taken from a conference held at Worcester College, Oxford in 2000, the focus here is very much on the smaller, more rural trading centres and inland markets of Northern Europe. The contributors reflect very different approaches to the material, including studies that examine up-to-date historical, archaeological and numismatic evidence from Britain, Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden dating from the 7th to 9th century. The authors consider the rather controversial use of metal-detecting in identifying and defining new sites and patterns of interaction and exchange, highlighting its positive contribution. Contributors include Mark Blackburn, David Griffiths, Lars Jorgensen, Michael Metcalf, Julian D Richards, Peter Sawyer and Astrid Tummuscheit.

Corporate Liability for Insider Trading - Original PDF
Corporate Liability for Insider Trading - Original PDF
نویسندگان: Juliette Overland خلاصه: Corporate Liability for Insider Trading examines the reasons why there have been no successful criminal prosecutions, or successful contested civil proceedings, against corporations for insider trading, and analyses the various rationales for prohibiting insider trading. It reviews the insider trading regulatory regime and describes its key features, using both national and international examples. The book inspects a variety of criminal and civil models of corporate liability and considers the historical and theoretical basis on which corporations are subject to insider trading laws. The specific elements of the insider trading offence and the manner in which they are attributed to corporations are analysed in detail. Defences available to corporations such as Chinese Walls are explored, and the obligations that are imposed on businesses as a result of insider trading regulation – security trading policies and notifications, continuous disclosure obligations, and duties concerning conflicts of interest – are detailed and examined. The book concludes with reform proposals intended to remedy the many legal and commercial difficulties identified, in order that a new regulatory regime might be adopted to better serve regulators, businesses, investors, and the broader market. This volume addresses these corporate law topics and will be of interest to researchers, academics, financial institution compliance officers, investment bankers, corporate and comparative lawyers, and students and scholars in the fields of commercial law, corporate law, financial crime, company law, and white collar crime.
Vitamin E: Chemistry and Nutritional Benefits - Original PDF
Vitamin E: Chemistry and Nutritional Benefits - Original PDF
نویسندگان: Niki, Etsuo خلاصه: Vitamin E is a plant-derived, lipid-soluble substance whose molecular struc- ture is comprised of a chromanol ring with a side chain located at the C2 position. Vitamin E refers to a group of eight different compounds: α-, β-, γ-, and δ-tocopherols and the corresponding four tocotrienols. The four tocopherols have a saturated phytyl side chain, while tocotrienols have an unsaturated isoprenyl side chain containing three double bonds at C3′, C7′, and C11′. The double bonds of tocotrienols' side chains at C3′ and C7′ have a trans-configuration. The α-, β-, γ-, and δ-forms differ with respect to the number and position of methyl groups on the chromanol ring. The α-forms of tocopherol and tocotrienol have three methyl groups at the C5, C7, and C8-positions of the chromanol ring, while the β- and γ-forms have two and the δ-forms have one methyl group as illustrated in Figure 1.1.
