نویسندگان: Tessaleno Campos Devezas • João Carlos Correia Leitão • Yuri Yegorov • Dmitry Chistilin خلاصه: Nowadays we observe the rise of average global temperature. There are many initiatives to combat this process, including Kyoto Protocol and Paris agreement. The general remedy against this process is decarbonization and use of renewable energy. At the moment, above 80% of used energy is produced from fossil fuels, but there are plans to cut down this share significantly in the next decades, not only in EU, but also across the globe. When we want to argue about the consequences of this process for FSU countries (now EAEU), we need to take into account both heterogeneity of physical climate change across the globe and the risks linked to international trade. The major territory of EAEU countries is occupied by Russian Federation, and its risks will be assessed separately. The next group is Central Asian countries, which is compact geographically comparing to Russia. First, we need to study the predicted risks for those countries caused by global warming. There are several processes associated with it: (a) change of average temperature and climate, (b) transition to renewable energies as a way to combat the process.

Great Minds in Regional Science, Vol. 2 - Original PDF
نویسندگان: Peter Batey · David Plane خلاصه: This second volume in the book series, Great Minds in Regional Science, continues telling the story, begun in the first volume, of the intellectual history of regional science. The perspective provided is through the lens of the contributions made by individual scholars influential to the multidisciplinary field’s establishment and development. The Great Minds series is a project of The Regional Science Academy (TRSA). The contributing authors are, themselves, leading scholars in the field, many having already been elected to membership in the Academy and as Fellows of the Regional Science Association International. Each chapter gives the author’s contemporaneous view on the scientific relevance of a great thinker. The sets of Great Minds featured in the specific volumes of the series have been chosen to include a blend of well- known figures and others meriting wider recognition for having advanced—in some significant way—the field’s pedagogy and institutionalization. The books in the series, Great Minds in Regional Science, together with those in The Voice of Regional Science (general and strategic reflections on new topics in regional science) currently comprise the Regional Science Academy’s meta-series, Footprints of Regional Science, under the general editorship of Kingsley Haynes, Karima Kourtit, and Peter Nijkamp. Since early 2016, highly successful series of sessions sponsored by the Academy have been held at locations throughout the world and featuring mini-lectures on topics germane to the two constituent book series. The chapters published in this volume of Great Minds in Regional Science derive from these earlier presentations

نویسندگان: Gilles Dufrénot خلاصه: P REFACE Macroeconomists’ efforts to investigate a series of new phenomena have been considerable over the past decade. Theories and methods hitherto considered to be the backbone of reasoning are gradually being called into question, because they do not provide answers to new puzzles. Why don’t current Phillips curves take into account financial inflation, that is, changes in the financial asset prices? Why should a central bank worry about controlling the real sector inflation when it is low? How should governments behave to reduce income and wealth inequalities? Why do macroeconomists continue to consider climate changes and countries’ health situation as exogenous to economies? Has industrial capitalism come of age? Why have natural interest rates been falling for at least two decades? What about helicopter money? Is it not an appropriate way to settle public debts? Isn’t it dangerous for governments to continue accumulating debt as they do today? Who will repay the debt? Are we going to reduce public debts as we did after the Second World War by using financial repression policies?

نویسندگان: David Howden • Philipp Bagus خلاصه: housands of leaflets rained down on the theater goers. The Spanish civil war had just ended and there was as much uncertainty as to Spain’s future as ever. The military dictatorship of El Generalissimo Francisco Franco had held strong power over the country since the war’s end in 1939. Dissenters existed, quietly for the most part, biding their time until the country would be prepared for another change of power. Among these dissenters were the communists and their sympathizers. But other claims to the Spanish government also existed. For Jesús Huerta Ballester the obvious and rightful claimant was Don Juan, the count of Bar

نویسندگان: Matthew McManus خلاصه: Introduction Matt McManus Liberal institutions cease to be liberal as soon as they are attained: later on, there are no worse and no more thorough injurers of freedom than liberal institutions. Their effects are known well enough: they undermine the will to power; they level mountain and valley, and call that morality; they make men small, cowardly, and hedonistic — every time it is the herd animal that triumphs with them. Liberalism: in other words, herd- animalization. Friedrich Nietzsche, Twilig

History of Economic Ideas From Adam Smith to Paul Krugman - Original PDF
نویسندگان: Panayotis G. Michaelides خلاصه: xv Introduction Economic Science is the Social Science that studies the activities of people associ- ated with the creation of goods and services, with the real-world economic and financial transactions, both at the individual and collective levels. Economic Science is based on one or more theories, which are shaped, co-constructed or replaced with each other with the aid of quantitative analysis (mathematics, statistics, economet- rics, experiments, etc.). Economic Theory, in turn, is an abstract description of the functioning of the extremely complex real world, where new scientific knowledge does not emerge from ‘nowhere’ but arises out of existing knowledge, in a dialectical relationship with the ‘existing’ and very often to its negation. Therefore, science develops and evolves as a ‘living organism’, and often one scientific theory is followed by another in continuity, extension or even opposition to the previous one. Therefore, in order to have a body of knowledge for understanding Economics, we must delve into the various individual ‘truths’ of each theory and, therefore, we must look back to the work of earlier thinkers, within a science that is constantly evolving. This journey of the formation of Economic Theory cannot be seen independently of its social context, since it is within this context that Economic Science has devel- oped, in response to the social conditions that prevailed and their evolution. Therefore, an Economic Theory without knowledge of the deeper internal as well as external causal relationships that have shaped the existing theories would lead to a sterile view.

نویسندگان: Shan Shanne Huang خلاصه: CHAPTER 1 Introduction On 1 July 2021, Xi Jinping stated in his speech at the conference of cele- bration of the one-hundredth anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) that the Reform and Opening Up and socialist modernisation is one of the greatest achievements of the CCP.1 In the speech, he said the People’s Republic of China (PRC) “achieved the implementation from the highly centralised planned economic system to the dynamic system of a socialist market economy” (shixian le cong gaodu jizhong de jihua jingji tizhi dao chongman huoli de shehui zhuyi shichang jingji tizhi). Raised up in 1978, the Reform and Opening Up (gaige kaifang ) has lasted for 44 years now, as has the state’s reform of the economic system. As Xi mentioned in his speech, due to the reform of the economic system, China has become the second-largest economy in the world

نویسندگان: Judith Dellheim • Frieder Otto Wolf خلاصه: Editors and authors are, of course, grateful for the interest of our readers that has made it possible to realise a second edition now. We have made use of this happy occasion to correct mistakes we had overlooked in the first edition, to actualise the texts wherever needed, and to add four texts: one by Michael R. Krätke on the still unpublished notes of Hilferding’s last manuscript which had been published post-humously (discussed as such by F. O. Wolf), and another one, also by Krätke, on Hilferding’s cor- respondence; plus a presentation of Krzywicki, the Polish ‘equivalent’ to Hilferding, by Toporowski, as well as a contribution by the editors open- ing a perspective on Varga. We hope to fuel the incipient debate on Hilferding by providing access to these materials—which are not merely of biographical relevancy. We also have added a contribution on Eugen Varga, leading on to the next collection of texts planned in this series. All authors have had the occasion to revise their texts according to the need they could see for this. Accordingly, the new edition will serve as a use- ful tool for further developing the debate on Hilferding, after it had been unblocked from political fetters resulting from older political antagonisms. We have become aware that there is an important and specific debate on Hilferding in Japan. Minoru Kurata and Masaaki Kurotaki should at least be mentioned here. Unfortunately, we have not been able to find a Japanese author for presenting this debate authentically, for which we only Preface to the second edition xviii PREFACE TO THE SECOND EDITION have passing references in the volume. This remains an open challenge for further research and debate.1 In finishing this volume, while the terrible ‘military operations’ gener- ated especially by Putin and his narrow power circle are unfolding, we want to underline the deep internationalist character of our work aiming at strengthening critical thinking and emancipatory-solidarity

International Labour Mobility How Remittances Shape the Labour Migration Model - Original PDF
نویسندگان: Valentina Vasile • Elena Bunduchi Daniel Stefan • Calin-Adrian Comes خلاصه: Migration has become a large-scale phenomenon, which affects all states of the world, regardless of their geographical area or level of economic development, and the ever-increasing number of international migrants has exceeded the growth rate of the world’s population. Therefore, under- standing the role and impact of migration in countries of origin and desti- nation is an important step in ensuring sustainable economic development and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. As a result of the increasing attention paid to migration, we consider it very topical to study the impact of the phenomenon on all the countries involved, both those of origin and destination
