So You Don't Want to Go to Church Anymore - PDF
نویسندگان: Wayne Jacobsen, Dave Coleman خلاصه: This is one of the greatest books I have ever read. Many of the negative reviews reflects the very religious attitudes he speaks against. His book focuses on Love and many of the negative reviews talk about "theology", that's more then enough show where their hearts and minds are. As I am an avid bible researcher, an advanced student not only the bible, but the Talmud, and i have taken many Christian Theology courses and this book i back 100%. many are threatened by the book because it messes with the foundation of the very thing they get their power and spiritual stability from, "church", when we should get all we need from the cornerstone of faith, Yeshua/Jesus the messiah. I have been a victim of church abuse and in fact one ministry attempted to deny me of salvation because i dated a man they didn't approve of. this book has bought about a much need healing and closure to the many horrific abuses i have endured in numerous churches. the author is not insinuating that all church is bad and we shouldn't go, he is rather examining the characteristics that define the modern church that exist today against the guidelines laid out in the bible and when we look at what we have built against the divine instructions, we have failed greatly. we need to learn that its okay to not understand everything. Its so easy in our everyday life's and trials to say oh just "let go and let God" but when it comes to the bigger things, like ministry, purpose, church, and building a relationship with God, we resort to developing rituals and setting standards, essentially we resort to becoming religious instead of just living and letting God. It just goes to show that we are all still babies in Yeshua, we rather do it ourselves and in our own way and time rather then letting God have his way. I hope this book, despite the negative seeds attempting to be sown against it, grows . I Hope this book ignites a fire in Gods people to truly and sincerely walk with him, love him, and live without religious condemnation-Its not what you do but how you love ! that is the key to figuring out this struggle we call a relationship with God. Read the book it will change your life.

How Math Can Save Your Life: (And Make You Rich, Help You Find The One, and Avert Catastrophes) - PDF
نویسندگان: James D. Stein خلاصه: It's a commonplace observation that the better the mathematician, the worse he or she generally is at balancing a checkbook. It's not a paradox: simple arithmetic is just too boring to hold a bright, abstract thinker's attention. So perhaps this can account for what happened in Chapter 10, "How Math Can Fix the Economy." In the table titled "The S&P Tulip Index, 1975-2007," the author looks at the ratio over a period of years of the year-end closing price of the S&P500 to average household income. Unfortunately, he used REAL (inflation adjusted) household income instead of CURRENT household income. The S&P500 closing prices, of course, are in CURRENT dollars, so the ratio, to make sense, has to be CURRENT dollars to CURRENT dollars. I immediately noticed something was wrong when I saw in the table that average household income supposedly rose only 40 percent from 1975 to 2007. In fact average household income rose 391 percent in CURRENT dollars! (I used the same Census Bureau spreadsheet as the author, but the correct column -- "Current dollars.") With this correction in place, the "S&P Tulip Index" isn't nearly as exuberant at the 1999 stock market peak: a ratio of 4.10 instead of the author's ratio of 16.29. There is also a conceptual problem with the author's "S&P Tulip Index." It doesn't take into account population growth. If the number of households doubled from 1975 to 2007, you might reasonably expect the S&P500 to double as well, even if average household income stayed constant. Sadly, the same mistake of REAL versus CURRENT dollars afflicts the next table too, "The Average Home Price Tulip Index, 1975-2007."
GETTING WHAT YOU WANT CL - PDF
GETTING WHAT YOU WANT CL - PDF
نویسندگان: Bob Brecher خلاصه: My intention in this book is polemical, but not rhetorical. For while I shall try to persuade readers that the whole idea of a liberal morality is in the end untenable, the very possibility of my doing so rests on a sense of, and a confidence in, a rationality which it is liberalism’s great achievement to have bequeathed us. Thus an underlying theme is that liberalism’s loss of confidence in a universal and impartial rationality, resulting in its transformation into the series of relativisms now described as postmodernism, is misplaced; but that the seeds of this transformation have lain dormant in the liberal tradition. In particular, it is liberalism’s difficulties in justifying morality which are central to that transfor mation and which show why, its achievements notwithstanding, liberal morality is in the end conceptually inadequate to the point of being corrosive. My argument is simply that liberal morality is unsustainable because it cannot offer a rationally adequate account either of morality as a fact of everyday life or of any possible justification of moral principles and moral demands. I hope to lay the ground, in the longer run, for the possibility of a thoroughly rationalistic account and justification of morality; to refute both amoralists who reject the claims of morality upon them and (philosophical) sceptics who, however they may actually behave, reject the possibility of any rational justification of (even their own) moral actions and judgements. In rejecting liberal morality and liberal theories of morality, then, I am emphatically not rejecting the liberal conception of rationality. In particular, I share the aspirations of classical no less than later nineteenth- and earlier twentieth-century liberals to a universal and impartial rationality—even if imperfectly realized, in that tradition as elsewhere, and even if too often limited to questions of means rather than extending also to ends

Save Your Retirement: What to Do If You Haven't Saved Enough or If Your Investments Were Devastated by the Market Meltdown - PDF
نویسندگان: Frank Armstrong, Paul B. Brown خلاصه: The cover of this book caught my eye at the bookstore and when I saw on the back that everyone from MONEY to BUSINESSWEEK was raving about it, I knew it was a financial must-read! The authors are so clear and concise and really helped me understand concepts that before seemed "greek to me." I'm always weary of personal finance books for giving people unrealistic ideas about how to get rich. This one is so great because it's no bs. If you can't afford to retire, the authors aren't going to tell you that you can. They know people saw their 401(k)s evaporate in the financial crisis and they're here to tell you what to do now. I highly recommend this book if you care a dime about your financial future.
