I Can Read You Like a Book: How to Spot the Messages and Emotions People Are Really Sending With Their Body Language - PDF
نویسندگان: Gregory Hartley, Maryann Karinch خلاصه: After having read this poorly organized book, I can totally agree with Sally Atman's review. Though I must state I read this book before coming to this site. The author makes the book about how great he is at reading body language. He than only gives little insights as of how to do it. He is purely arrogant and seems to talk about himself for the majority of the book. He gloats about his military past, his boots, his own personality and even his political views. The book comes off as if body language is just too difficult for anyone to learn and he just WON'T tell you how to do it. So he decides to fulfills the emptiness of the book with talk about himself. Even the title says narcissism. After reading this book I felt incomplete. I felt I didn't hardly learn anything about body language. So I read another book. I read What Every BODY is Saying: An Ex-FBI Agent's Guide to Speed-Reading People. A well organized comprehensive guide to learning body language. It gives you detailed information on how to read body language along with interesting stories on how he the author, Joe Navarro, has used the specific tell in his life. Through Joe Navarro you will learn a skill set, not just some bits of information. Do yourself a favor and DON'T read "I can read you like a book". It will just waste your time.

Planet Earth: 25 Environmental Projects You Can Build Yourself - PDF
نویسندگان: Kathleen Reilly خلاصه: There were several "early environmentalists," including Henry David Thoreau, John Muir, Theodore Roosevelt and Jacques-Yves Cousteau. They were the early pioneers and not always taken seriously, but now there are many people and organizations that are interested in protecting our environment. Young people today realize that "we're woven into the environment just as much as a leaf on a tree or the soil we walk on" and there are many little things we can do to help. In this book you'll learn about the Earth and our place in it, biome facts, Earth's atmosphere, the stratosphere, the sun, plant and animal species on Earth, pollution, global warming, ozone depletion, endangered species, how to recycle and how the environment balances itself. There are projects interspersed in these pages relative to the dialogue. The author does try to impress upon the reader "to be aware of the materials you use" and encourages environmental awareness throughout the text. Among the many projects you can do include: Make Your Own Whole World Granola Make Your Own Tullgren Funnel Make Your Own Wind-Powered Bubble Machine Make Your Own Plant-Oxygen Experiment Make Your Own Giant Air Blaster Make Your Own Water-Testing Experiment Make Your Own Backyard Pond Make Your Own Miniature Water Cycle Make Your Own Terrarium Make Your Own Solar-Powered Oven Make Your Own Pocket Sundial Make Your Own Sunflower House Make Your Own Pond Exploration Kit Make Your Own Mini Food Chain Make Your Own Butterfly Feeder make Your Own Chemical-Free, Insect-Repelling Dog Collar Make Your Own Ladybug Home Make Your Own Garbage Picker-Upper Make Your Own Global Warming in a Jar Propagate Your Own Tree Make Your Own Ozone Hole Magic Trick Make Your Own Hydroponic Planter Make Your Own Endangered Animal T-Shirt Make Your Own Food Supply Experiment Make Your Own Naturally Dyed Shopping Tote Make Your Own Worm Castle Make Your Own Scratch-and-Sniff Recycled Paper Make Your Own Environment Charm Bracelet Make Your Own "Bring the Earth Back Into Balance" Game I've been looking at this book for over a month and marveling at the amazing information packed inside. This book was printed on "100% recycled paper" by a member of the Green Press Initiative and a listing of the resources saved are listed in the front. The inside has no glossy pages and is actually quite dull looking in black and white. BUT, you'll have to travel far and wide to find a more interesting and unique book that not only discusses critical environmental issues, but also provides many hands-on projects for its readers. In the back of the book is a glossary, an index and additional recommended book, periodical, environmental and web site resources for children. Can't go wrong with this book!

For Your Body Only: Discover the Diet You Were Born to Eat - PDF
نویسندگان: Gregory H. Tefft خلاصه: I agree with Dr. Tefft on many of the ideas and concepts presented in his book, however, as another reviewer pointed out, the book is poorly written, has terrible editing and lacks cohesion. Dr. Tefft begins by taking a very scientific approach to personalized nutrition, but then takes a u-turn into what seems to be an infomercial for the latest multi-level marketing scheme. (Check out the website listed in the book and that will further illustrate this point http://www.dragondoor.com ) He lays out a great foundation and argument for why all of the scientific and laboratory typing is necessary for optimum nutrition and health, then abruptly dumps all of that for the "better" and "simpler" testing developed by Personal Nutrition and further improved upon by his own organization, The American Society for the Advancement of Personalization (ASAP). This would be fine, except for the fact that it doesn't provide greater personalization, which is supposed to be the point.
Why We Want You to Be Rich: Two Men, One Message - PDF
Why We Want You to Be Rich: Two Men, One Message - PDF
نویسندگان: Donald Trump, Robert T. Kiyosaki خلاصه: With such an obscure title, I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I began reading this book. And, after reading it, I'm still not quite sure what it was all about. That's not to say that it isn't a good book. In many ways, it is. But only one chapter is devoted to the subject of its title, and, while the book ranges far afield, it still leaves much to be desired. The early pages describe how the authors came together, agreed to write the book, and struggled to decide what to write about. Then, in Chapter 5, the authors alternately discuss why they want their book's readers to become rich. Their rational is derived largely from factors affecting the United States and the U.S. economy; more specifically, the growing trade deficit; the growing national debt; the falling dollar; baby boomers retiring without resources; the prevailing entitlement mentality; higher oil prices; and increasing tax breaks for the rich. All of these are seen as either directly or indirectly affecting the American people and none in a positive way. The book then transitions into a discussion of the different types of investors and savers, and the characteristics of, and pros and cons of each. It then proceeds to present some biographical information regarding the authors, highlighting what the authors learned as they were educated, mentored, attended church, served in the military, and eventually entered the business world. Then, beginning with Chapter 21, the authors offer some fairly top-level advice for those still in school, adults and baby boomers without much money, and those who are already rich. Following that, they discuss their chosen field, real estate, and network marketing and owning one's own business. What did I like best about the book? As with all of Robert Kiyosaki's books, this book offers much sage advice and many pearls of wisdom. What did I like the least? I didn't particularly like the format: each chapter divided in two parts with first Mr. Kiyosaki and then Mr. Trump discussing that chapter's topic. In addition, having read several of Mr. Kiyosaki's earlier books, I found much of what he had to say to be repetitive; and, since he seemed to be carrying the ball most of the time, Mr. Trump really didn't add as much to the discussion as I had hoped. Bottom line: This is a fairly good book, but most of the discussions are at a high level. So, if I was only going to read one book along these lines, this is not the one I would choose.

نویسندگان: M. Shifman خلاصه: Interesting and tough problems from Moscow State University, Moscow Institute for Physics and Technology, and Moscow Institute for Engineering and Physics. Includes articles on the history of using tougher questions to refuse admission of Jewish students - a form of state-sanctioned discrimination, before the era of perestroika. There is also material covering the alleged KGB assassination of Bella Abramovna - a dedicated math teacher who organized an informal underground university for educating Jewish math students in the Soviet Union. A fascinating read.

Are You Good Enough: 15 Ways to Build a Confident Mindset - PDF
نویسندگان: Bill McFarlan, Alex Yellowlees خلاصه: I loved Bill McFarlan's "Drop The Pink Elephant," but "Are You Good Enough" is simply unpleasant to read and contains very little useful information. The book is based on a story about a ficititious couple and their son. Each chapter begins with an event in their lives (for example, the wife overeating while waiting for her husband to get home from work), and attempts to tie that into a couple of pages of text explaining how (in this instance) the wife is overeating because she's really hungry for love. Unfortunately, the only way in which this book made me feel more self-confident and/or better about myself is the knowledge that my own books actually contain useful information, laid out in steps that can easily be followed by anyone. Overall, "Are You Good Enough" is a huge disappointment.

نویسندگان: Marshall B. Rosenberg PhD خلاصه: After constantly reading and re-reading Non Violent Communication and the workbook, finding tons of valuable information in it and being able to put it into practice, I don't feel this bookLET gave me anything new. First I was unaware this was just a booklet and not a full book , until I got it. It may have declared that in the description but I didn't pay attention! Second, the format of using blurbs from various other participants, seminars and what not makes it very difficult to follow along. I had to stop and was not able to make it all the way through. I jsut had to reread the same passages two and three times just to understand them. That being said I am a college educated, well read individual therefore reading is not a challenge for me, but this booklet was. :-( I had very high expectations for this book after reading NonViolent Communication!

The Calculus Lifesaver: All the Tools You Need to Excel at Calculus (Princeton Lifesaver Study Guides) - PDF
نویسندگان: Adrian Banner خلاصه: For many students, calculus can be the most mystifying and frustrating course they will ever take. The Calculus Lifesaver provides students with the essential tools they need not only to learn calculus, but to excel at it. All of the material in this user-friendly study guide has been proven to get results. The book arose from Adrian Banner's popular calculus review course at Princeton University, which he developed especially for students who are motivated to earn A's but get only average grades on exams. The complete course will be available for free on the Web in a series of videotaped lectures. This study guide works as a supplement to any single-variable calculus course or textbook. Coupled with a selection of exercises, the book can also be used as a textbook in its own right. The style is informal, non-intimidating, and even entertaining, without sacrificing comprehensiveness. The author elaborates standard course material with scores of detailed examples that treat the reader to an "inner monologue"--the train of thought students should be following in order to solve the problem--providing the necessary reasoning as well as the solution. The book's emphasis is on building problem-solving skills. Examples range from easy to difficult and illustrate the in-depth presentation of theory. The Calculus Lifesaver combines ease of use and readability with the depth of content and mathematical rigor of the best calculus textbooks. It is an indispensable volume for any student seeking to master calculus. Serves as a companion to any single-variable calculus textbook Informal, entertaining, and not intimidating Informative videos that follow the book--a full forty-eight hours of Banner's Princeton calculus-review course--is available at Adrian Banner lectures More than 475 examples (ranging from easy to hard) provide step-by-step reasoning Theorems and methods justified and connections made to actual practice Difficult topics such as improper integrals and infinite series covered in detail Tried and tested by students taking freshman calculus
