This book introduces fundamental and advanced fabric structure and mechanics. There are 10 chapters covering the general features of textile structure and mechanics. All the simple modes of deformation such as tensile, bending, shear and compression, and the complex, particularly drape deformation of fabrics (mainly woven), are discussed. Testing methods for the objective/ instrumental measurement of fabric mechanical properties and structure parameters are also included.

parameters are also included. I am grateful to my PhD supervisor, Dr Alan Newton, in the Textile Department of UMIST. He introduced me to fabric structure and mechanics and, through his extensive academic knowledge in this area, taught me the fascinating science of fibre assemblies.

چکیده فارسی

این کتاب ساختار و مکانیک پارچه اساسی و پیشرفته را معرفی می کند. 10 فصل وجود دارد که ویژگی های کلی ساختار و مکانیک نساجی را پوشش می دهد. همه حالت‌های ساده تغییر شکل مانند کشش، خمش، برش و فشار، و تغییر شکل پیچیده، به‌ویژه پارچه‌ها (عمدتاً بافته‌شده) مورد بحث قرار می‌گیرند. روش‌های آزمایش برای اندازه‌گیری هدفی/ابزاری خواص مکانیکی پارچه و پارامترهای ساختار نیز گنجانده شده است.

پارامترها نیز گنجانده شده است. من از استاد راهنمای دکترای خود، دکتر آلن نیوتن، در بخش نساجی UMIST سپاسگزارم. او من را با سازه و مکانیک پارچه آشنا کرد و از طریق دانش آکادمیک گسترده خود در این زمینه، علم جذاب مجموعه های الیاف را به من آموخت.
