Novel, environmentally-friendly solutions are proposed based on integrated knowledge from sciences as diverse as agronomy, soil science, molecular biology, chemistry, toxicology, ecology, economy, and social sciences. Indeed, sustainable agriculture decipher mechanisms of processes that occur from the molecular level to the farming system to the global level at time scales ranging from seconds to centuries. For that, scientists use the system approach that involves studying components and interactions of a whole system to address scientific, economic and social issues. In that respect, sustainable agriculture is not a classical, narrow science. Instead of solving problems using the classical painkiller approach that treats only negative impacts, sustainable agriculture treats problem sources. Because most actual society issues are now intertwined, global, and fast-developing, sustainable agriculture will bring solutions to build a safer world. This book series gathers review articles that analyze current agricultural issues and knowledge, then propose alternative solutions. راه‌حل‌های جدید و سازگار با محیط‌زیست بر اساس دانش یکپارچه از علوم مختلف مانند زراعت، علم خاک، زیست‌شناسی مولکولی، شیمی، سم‌شناسی، بوم‌شناسی، اقتصاد و علوم اجتماعی پیشنهاد شده‌اند. در واقع، کشاورزی پایدار مکانیسم‌های فرآیندهایی را رمزگشایی می‌کند که از سطح مولکولی تا سیستم کشاورزی تا سطح جهانی در مقیاس‌های زمانی از ثانیه تا قرن‌ها رخ می‌دهند. برای آن، دانشمندان از رویکرد سیستمی استفاده می‌کنند که شامل مطالعه اجزا و تعاملات یک سیستم کامل برای پرداختن به مسائل علمی، اقتصادی و اجتماعی است. از این نظر، کشاورزی پایدار یک علم کلاسیک و محدود نیست. کشاورزی پایدار به جای حل مشکلات با استفاده از رویکرد مسکن کلاسیک که تنها اثرات منفی را درمان می کند، منابع مشکل را درمان می کند. از آنجا که اکثر مسائل واقعی جامعه اکنون در هم تنیده شده اند، کشاورزی پایدار جهانی و در حال توسعه سریع راه حل هایی را برای ساختن جهانی امن تر به ارمغان خواهد آورد. این مجموعه کتاب مقالات مروری را جمع آوری می کند که مسائل و دانش کشاورزی فعلی را تجزیه و تحلیل می کند، سپس راه حل های جایگزین را پیشنهاد می کند. بنابراین به همه دانشمندان، تصمیم گیرندگان، اساتید، کشاورزان و سیاستمدارانی که مایل به ایجاد یک سیستم کشاورزی، انرژی و غذایی ایمن برای نسل های آینده هستند، کمک خواهد کرد.
