Where are you?Look around for a minute. If you were to take a picture that captures yourthoughts and feelings about where you are right now, what would it be?Tricky, isn’t it, but perhaps this will help.Taking great photographs of places is allabout what, when and how.‘What’ kind of places stir your ideas or emotions – wilderness areas,industrial scenes, places with historical significance? ‘When’ would youwant to photograph them – early morning, during the day, at twilight or inthe dead of night? ‘How’ do you want to photograph them – deep orshallow focus, wide or telephoto lens, a classic composition or somethingmore unorthodox? Marry these three elements together and yourphotographs will be elevated into something with meaning.This is sometimes a subconscious process because you’re acting oninstinct.
