THE IRON CASTINGS HANDBOOIC IS DEDICATED to the Seelbach family for their more than 170 combined years of outstanding contributions to the iron foundry industry and to this Society. Walter L. Seelbach (1888-1969) devoted more than fifty years of his career to this industry. He was a founder and first president of this Society, president of the American Foundrymen 's Society, and received numerous high honors for his services both to the foundry industry and to government. 'Throughout his 45-year foundry career, Charles F. Seelbach, Sr., (1893-1963) was active in many local and national foundry organizations. His two sons, Charles F. Seelbach, Jr. (1920-1981), and William F. Seelbach (1927-1979), both served in top executive posts in the family business, Forest City Foundries Company. Charles F. Seelbach, Jr., was a past president of the American Foundrymen 's Society, and received its highest award, the Gold Medal. Active in a number of other foundry organizations, he served as a director of the Iron Castings Society, and chaired the committee responsible for producing this Handbook. William F. Seelbach was a prominent leader and tirelessly worked toward improvement of the iron foundry industry, serving as treasurer, vice president, and president of this Society. The Iron Castings Society, and the authors and editors are proud to dedicate the Iron Castings Handbook to this outstanding family, who have made so many unsellish contributions to the advancement of the iron foundry industry
