This volume presents the state of the art in design methods for machine foundations which includes reciprocating machines, impact machines, rotary machines, machine foundations on piles, and embedded block foundations for machines. Presents step-by-step design procedures and includes instructive, solved examples. Describes in detail two methods of analysis: the elastic half-space method and the linear spring method, and describes design procedures developed from both of them.

این جلد، وضعیت هنر را در روش‌های طراحی برای شالوده‌های ماشین ارائه می‌کند که شامل ماشین‌های رفت و برگشتی، ماشین‌های ضربه‌ای، ماشین‌های دوار، پایه‌های ماشین روی شمع‌ها، و پایه‌های بلوک تعبیه‌شده برای ماشین‌ها می‌شود. مراحل طراحی گام به گام را ارائه می دهد و شامل مثال های آموزنده و حل شده است. دو روش تجزیه و تحلیل را به تفصیل شرح می دهد: روش نیمه فاصله الاستیک و روش فنر خطی، و روش های طراحی توسعه یافته از هر دوی آنها را شرح می دهد.
