این جلد به بررسی تأثیر شرکت‌های فراملی (TNC) بر محیط‌زیست جنوب جهانی در این دوره از جهانی‌سازی نئولیبرالی می‌پردازد.
از اواخر دهه 1970، نقش شرکت های فراملی در اقتصاد جهانی به طور چشمگیری توسعه یافت و تغییرات بعدی در نهادهای بین المللی و ایجاد مناطق آزاد تجاری، اثربخشی حفاظت از محیط زیست را محدود کرد.
