This book deals with the design of steel structural members, and their connections, with emphasis on their use in bridges and buildings. Discussion of theory and behavior under the various combinations of loads such members must resist is followed by a discussion of applications according to standard specifications for load and resistance factor design (LRFD) and allowable-stress design (ASD). Discussion of these two types of specifications are presented in separately numbered articles followed by worked-out examples.

این کتاب به طراحی اعضای سازه های فولادی و اتصالات آنها با تاکید بر استفاده از آنها در پل ها و ساختمان ها می پردازد. بحث در مورد تئوری و رفتار تحت ترکیب های مختلف بارهایی که چنین اعضایی باید در برابر آنها مقاومت کنند، با بحث در مورد کاربردها مطابق با مشخصات استاندارد برای طراحی ضریب بار و مقاومت (LRFD) و طراحی تنش مجاز (ASD) دنبال می شود. بحث در مورد این دو نوع مشخصات در مقالاتی با شماره جداگانه و به دنبال نمونه های کار شده ارائه شده است.
