Today, many clinicians are increasingly being referred for or called upon to deal with critical clinical treatment issues that require a working knowledge of couple and family assessment resources. These referrals may involve various challenges such as suitability for marriage; marital separation; divorce; media- tion; family violence; and child custody for which couple and family assess- ment data and/or methods and strategies would be useful or essential. Unfortunately, graduate education in clinical psychology and counseling pri- marily trains clinicians to work with individual clients and conceptualize cases in terms of individual personality dynamics rather than in terms of sys- temic or couple and family dynamics. Accordingly, many have not had formal coursework, training, or supervised experience in couple and family assess- ment. Even those who have completed degrees in marital and family therapy may not have received much in the way of formal training and supervised experience in formally assessing couples and families. Thus, the discussion in this and subsequent chapters can be helpful in addressing such clinical con- siderations as marital issues, family violence, or child custody.

چکیده فارسی

امروزه، بسیاری از پزشکان به طور فزاینده ای برای رسیدگی به مسائل مهم درمان بالینی که نیازمند دانش کاری منابع ارزیابی زوج و خانواده است، ارجاع داده می شوند یا از آنها خواسته می شود. این ارجاعات ممکن است شامل چالش های مختلفی مانند مناسب بودن برای ازدواج باشد. جدایی زناشویی؛ طلاق؛ پادرمیانی؛ خشونت خانوادگی؛ و حضانت کودک که داده ها و/یا روش ها و راهبردهای ارزیابی زوج و خانواده برای آن مفید یا ضروری است. متأسفانه، تحصیلات تکمیلی در روانشناسی بالینی و مشاوره در درجه اول به پزشکان آموزش می دهد تا با مراجعان فردی کار کنند و موارد را از نظر پویایی شخصیت فردی به جای پویایی سیستمی یا زوج و خانواده مفهوم سازی کنند. بر این اساس، بسیاری از آنها کار درسی رسمی، آموزش یا تجربه تحت نظارت در ارزیابی زوج و خانواده نداشته اند. حتی کسانی که مدارک تحصیلی خود را در زمینه زناشویی و خانواده درمانی به پایان رسانده اند، ممکن است به اندازه آموزش رسمی و تجربه تحت نظارت در ارزیابی رسمی زوج ها و خانواده ها دریافت نکرده باشند. بنابراین، بحث در این فصل و فصل‌های بعدی می‌تواند در پرداختن به ملاحظات بالینی مانند مسائل زناشویی، خشونت خانوادگی یا حضانت کودک مفید باشد.
