Dr Cleugh was in charge of the course for teachers of so-called 'educationally sub-normal' children at the University of London Institute of Education.

 

The three volumes of this work, which at the time took their place as complete and up-to-date guides to the subjects they cover, were written by practising teachers who had passed through the Institute’s course, and they cover every part of the curriculum from the point of view of the 'slow' learner. This volume focuses on the primary school.

این کتاب یک نسخه مجدد است که در ابتدا در سال 1961 منتشر شده است. زبان استفاده شده بازتابی از دوران آن است و هیچ توهینی از سوی ناشران برای هیچ خواننده ای از این چاپ مجدد نیست. دکتر کلو مسئول دوره آموزشی برای معلمان کودکان به اصطلاح «فراتر از نرمال تحصیلی» در مؤسسه آموزش دانشگاه لندن بود.

 

سه جلد این اثر که در آن زمان به عنوان راهنمای کامل و به‌روز در مورد موضوعاتی که تحت پوشش قرار می‌دهند، جای خود را می‌گرفت، توسط اساتید مجربی که دوره مؤسسه را گذرانده بودند، نوشته شده است و هر قسمت را پوشش می‌دهد. برنامه درسی از دیدگاه یادگیرنده "آهسته". این جلد بر مدرسه ابتدایی تمرکز دارد.
