Analyses of contemporary tourism planning and policymaking practice at local to global scales is lacking and there is an urgent need for research that informs theory and practice. تحلیل‌های برنامه‌ریزی و سیاست‌گذاری گردشگری معاصر در مقیاس محلی تا جهانی وجود ندارد و نیاز فوری به تحقیقاتی وجود دارد که به تئوری و عمل کمک کند. این جلد که با مجموعه ای از مطالعات موردی بین المللی منسجم، با اطلاعات نظری، ساخته شده از طریق داستان سرایی نشان داده شده است، دانش خوانندگان را در مورد چگونگی برنامه ریزی و سیاست گذاری گردشگری گسترش می دهد. این کتاب با چالش‌برانگیز کردن مفاهیم سنتی برنامه‌ریزی گردشگری و فرآیندهای خط‌مشی، بینش‌های انتقادی در مورد چگونگی کاربرد مفاهیم و چارچوب‌های نظری در برنامه‌ریزی گردشگری و سیاست‌گذاری در مقیاس‌های فضایی مختلف ارائه می‌دهد.
