اصطلاح عبارت یا عبارتی است که معنایی غیر تحت اللفظی دارد که با خواندن هر کلمه به صورت جداگانه نمی توان آن را نتیجه گرفت. اگر در آزمون Speaking خود باند 8 را دریافت کردید، می‌توانید بگویید: «من بالای ماه بودم که نتایجم را دیدم.» اگر معنای لغوی این عبارات را در نظر بگیریم، به یاد خیره شدن به آسمان از کنار ستارگان آن سوی ماه می افتیم! از طرف دیگر، معنای اصطلاحی این اصطلاح با شادی مرتبط است: "وقتی نتیجه خود را دیدم واقعاً خوشحال شدم."
